The UK General Election on 12 December 2019 resulted in a solid majority for UK PM Boris Johnson’s Conservative Party, leaving the way clear for the UK Parliament to ratify the EU/UK Withdrawal Agreement and for the UK to leave the EU on 31 January 2020.
In this case, the UK would enter a transition phase until 31 December 2020, during which the current EU rules would continue to apply to the UK. However, as yet, there is no certainty about the form of the UK withdrawal from the EU.
Our sister trade repository REGIS-TR UK LTD is ready to activate a full UK EMIR reporting service as soon as required under future legislation. Meanwhile, until there is full clarity, we are continuing our preparations for a range of exit scenarios, including a no-deal Brexit.
We are continuing to keep a close eye on events and will provide further updates as developments unfold.
